Finding Unbearable Lightness

Tomas and Sabina in The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Tomas and Sabina in The Unbearable Lightness of Being, film version

In less than forty pages, I’m done with the book. I don’t want it–or rather, my fascination with it–to end yet, so I’m searching for the movie version. Is this even available on DVD locally, legally? I’ve seen the trailer on youtube, and am super thrilled to see Daniel Day-Lewis portraying the ladykiller Tomas. Tomas = Daniel Day-Lewis?!?!?! Needless to say, Es muss sein! (It must be!)

You know what I want for Christmas!!!!

(Erm, the DVD or DDL? Hee)

Lull Moments

Lull as an upside-down, dead rabbit

Lull as an upside-down, dead rabbit. Mad props to Sam Taylor-Wood, one of my favorite photographers.

They say you only get sad and depressed when you have a lot of time with yourself and your thoughts. Once you busy yourself with projects and work and people, all those demons would go away and never return. I can’t say I have a lot of free time on my hands. In fact, it’s otherwise. But there’s this dark, hollow ringing that goes from my head, to my crooked little fingers, to the soles of my feet. It’s everywhere. I don’t know why it’s gotten this consuming. Though at times, this darkness and this ringing are comforting; they’re only company you’ll ever have. If they get out of your head, what is there to remain? Light? Happy songs? Chimes? Morrissey sings, There is a light that never goes out. Sometimes, the ringing in your head screams for this light to go out, for it consumes the darkness that lulls and numbs. Much like anaesthesia.
